Banner Reluir Crest Reluir Banner Reluir

Phéarel had decided to go in a more secluded area, boardering the forests of Reluir, to bury her whishing crystal. During these days of praying and remembering of the culture and history of Reluir, she felt oddly in peace with herself. The time spend in collective chanting of prayers in cathedrals made Phéarel reflect about herself and more specifically her past. She still hadn't made peace with the events that had happened to her in her life, that's why she was also unsure what to wish upon for her future. Staring at the light of her wishing crystal Phéarel thought about possible different outcomes of what might have been if.... But in the endshe realized thinking about the 'what ifs' was no use so she simply buried her crystal with no further thought shrugging off her internal conflicting emotions and rational mind.....

I know the Deadline is passed already, but I still wanted to upload my drawing, hope that is still fine!

About the concept
I really loved the whole Saint Beitris Ritual! The whole idea is very unique and made realistic so I just had to draw something for the wonderful Dark Elf culture >///<

I guessed Phéarel would definitely participate in all the Steps and follow the Diet and the Prayings in the Cathedrals. I chose though to draw her with a wishing crystal. I imagined the crystals to be shining orbs ...maybe it's a wrong depiction but I liked this idea the most .... I apologize to Lost-In-Canada if that isn't the case :ming:
Phéarel though in the end didn't take part at the big ball (although I would like and probabaly will draw her in future in some fancy elegant evening dress) but for this time she prefered to keep her distances from big crowds where she might meet her family.

So you can see my OC Phéarel next to a shimmering weeping willow with Reluir Mountains in the back ^//^

About the art
This is my very first digital coloration! The lines are scanned Sketch lines, that I painted over with black on the computer. I used Photoshop CS5 and a Wacom Bamboo PenTouch tablet.

Well since this is my very first digital coloration I would greately appreciate some advice and critics on how I could improve and what I could make better in the future. I also would like to note the clothes and everything were colored with some strange brush settings. I thought I try to recreate a watercolorbrush with some settings and textures.... The background on the other hand was drawn with normal round brushes, with adjustments in their opacity.
The background ... I often avoid drawing backgrounds so pelase don't be too harsh on me, this was my first try with tablet and photoshop and I am still not good with bakcgrounds so I guess everything was a bit 'spalshed' together. That is a weeping tree those are purple mounatins ... xDD

I think I will try to switch a bit more to digital in the future now that I have a tablet >///< What do you think? Is it a good idea? Is it a badidea? Should I just go back to my pencils xDD??

For those interested, here are the sketch lines: sta.sh/01rds5d3qyql

Like I said I would greately welcome any kind of advice, critic and supportative thoughts ^.^.

This is really lovely! I actually just started doing digital art a few weeks ago, so I can really tell that this is quite good for a first digital piece!

If I'm to offer advice, I'll agree with Lost-In-Canada, the black eats away a lot of nice details! so be careful about not hiding away the details you want to show with colors that are too strong. Avoid going with black when shading, try picking a color slightly darker than the starting color! (for example, shading a blue cape: pick dark blue or purple)

otherwise it's looking good! you should really continue both digital and traditional in my opinion (at least thats what im doing), because you can learn a lot from both kinds of art! and as you can see, it can also allow you to put your traditional sketch as lines for a digital drawing
